THREAT AND RESPONSE TRAINING
Threat and Response Training referred to as TRT is the exclusive curriculum of HomeSafety Academy in answering client’s requests for “real world” training. Within the TRT curriculum, a person’s knowledge, skills and attitude are applied to “real world” scenarios. These scenarios include self-defense situations inside the home, outside the home, at work, recreation and public areas to name a few. Instead of enforcing a “tactical” attitude to civilian situations we teach everyday people to utilize some basic techniques and apply them to a variety of scenarios.
At Home Safety Academy we want our students to become aware of their surroundings, learn to understand and react in a positive and safe manner. That is the only way you can protect yourself. Knowledge, skills and attitude are the key to learning the things you need to survive in a “real world” situation. After all, what you learn can save a life.

ADVANCED COURSES
Personal Protection IN Home
- 8 hours classroom plus range time over 2 days
- Limited to 4 students per class
Prerequisite: Proof of successful completion of Home Firearm Safety and either Basic Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun. This is an ADVANCED course for students that have proven capable advance knowledge of NRA handgun use. A recommendation from a NRA Certified Instructor is necessary to take this course. Successful completion of this course allows you to qualify to take the NRA Personal Protection INSIDE the Home instructor’s course from a qualified NRA Training Counselor (TC). Tuition includes all NRA class materials. Ammo and range fees are NOT included. A minimum of 200 controlled rounds are fired to qualify during a series of required handgun exercises. A Certification of completion can be earned.
Personal Protection OUTSIDE the Home
- 14 hours classroom plus range time over three days
- Limited to 4 students per class
- Part 1: Two 7 hour days of Classroom and a day at the range
- Part 2: Completion of Part 1 and completion of 21 handgun exercises during two days at the range
Prerequisite: Proof of successful completion of Personal Protection INSIDE the Home. This is an ADVANCED course for students that have proven capable advanced knowledge of NRA handgun use. Successful completion of this course allows you to teach Personal Protection OUTSIDE the Home and will qualify you to take the NRA Personal Protection OUTSIDE the Home instructor’s course from a qualified NRA training counselor (TC).Tuition includes all NRA class materials. Ammo and range fees are NOT included. A requirement of up to 300 controlled rounds are fired to qualify during a series of required handgun exercises. A certificate of completion can be earned for both parts of Personal Protection OUTSIDE the Home. This class is for those with considerable firearm experience.
